Q: How do I search for anime or manga?
Go to the Discover tab and type the name of any anime, manga, J-drama, movie, or game in the search bar.
Q: How does the study system work?
Wakatta uses spaced repetition (SRS) to help you remember vocabulary and kanji. Items you get right are shown less frequently; items you struggle with appear more often.
Q: Do I need an API key?
The AI tutor feature requires an API key from Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT). The app guides you through getting one. All other features work without an API key.
Q: Where is my data stored?
All study progress and preferences are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.
Q: What JLPT levels are supported?
Wakatta covers vocabulary, kanji, and grammar from JLPT N5 (beginner) through N1 (advanced).
